It’s A Sign
When you get a view like this you’ve got to put the pedal to the metal and head towards it. But Shocks, my partner in all things not criminal (criminal activity is reserved strictly for my mermaid sisterhood), likes to keep it at a snail’s pace and is a true believer in “slow and steady wins the race.” (His first pet was a turtle.) The first time I drove Winnie the Warrior Princess, a 1987 RV anyone would be jealous of, I got a speeding ticket.
This is a significantly hard thing to accomplish considering her max speed is just under sixty miles per hour. But I managed to do it and also managed to get myself removed from the driver seat.
I figured I could look at this two ways.
One, I could blame the officer and be upset about losing driving priveledges, and I pride myself on driving since I’ve been doing it since I was like fourteen, it could have been thirteen. (Side note: Can you believe you can get a permit to drive to school by yourself that young? I don’t even know if I could see over the wheel.)
Or two, I could relish in the passenger seat and admire the view.
Well, I chose both, because of course, it was the officer’s fault, and clearly, it was a speed trap, but since I love catching views like this unencumbered by the whole driving thing, being in the passenger seat is a score. In fact, I took it as a sign. A sign to write, share and always take time to enjoy the view.
Welcome to my little corner, where I’ll share all my favorite cocktails, mocktails and more. And I’ll be sure to keep you updated on upcoming events, inspiration and some personal dish. So pull out a bottle of booze and get comfy, it’s going to get good.
Oh and something else I learned that day…the “house” of an RV is not considered the “car,” which means, wait for it…
You can drink while your turtle is driving!
So sit back, relax and enjoy a Warrior Princess Martini.
The Warrior Princess Martini
½ TBS Fresh Ginger (grated)
½ oz Fresh Lemon
3 oz Vodka
Garnish with Mint or Lemon
Place ginger and fresh squeezed lemon in the shaker and muddle to bring out the flavor of the ginger. Add ice and vodka and shake. Pour in a martini glass and garnish with a sprig of mint or lemon.
Oh about that relaxing part…the Warrior Princess Martini is a serious drink. It’s made with fresh ginger, so get ready to have your hair blown back. (RV convertibles should exist.) If you want to calm the flavors just a bit add ice and soda.
The Warrior Princess Cocktail
