Old Fashioned Red, White & Blue Pie
Crust
For a delicious homemade crust follow the link to my Midnight Blueberry Pie Recipe here, or buy a fab frozen crust and get busy with this boozy berry!
Old Fashioned Filling
2-4 Cups Fresh Blueberries and Strawberries (I used LARGE blueberries, which is why I add the varying cups.)
2 TBS Bourbon Whiskey (I used Buffalo Trace, yum!)
3 dashes Vintage Orange Bitters by Dashfire Bitters
1 Cup Sugar
1 TBS Flour
Bake at 350 for 1 hour. Keep an eye on your pie…I recommend tin foil under this Red, White & Blue celebratory sweet as it tends to drip. Let it sit for a good while before serving so it has time to thicken and for the flavors to settle. ENJOY!
Here’s some behind the scenes! Fill ‘er up…
Please note my EXTRA huge blueberries! So proud of those giants. Bigger is better, right?!
Can we talk about that braid? I’m a sucker for drama, so I and added some darling dough work 😉
If you’re going to picnic…beware, Old Fashioned Red, White & Blue Pie is preferred by bottle baby goats everywhere… 😂
Thank you for your service, Dad and so much more! And thank you ALL for your sacrifice.
